The Bloody Day

Shelly woke up in the early morning and watched the sun rise. She could hear the feathers, shells and diamonds she had collected and hung where the wind could push at them, making sounds. The sun always had the new marks of the new day on it. The clouds that morning were streaked with pick and red. She took out the symbols paper that her ancestor had made so long ago. It had all the symbols on it that told what was going to happen that day. She looked it up and down to see that red clouds meant blood. There would be blood spilled that day. That wasn't good. She hoped it wouldn't be in the Tribe, but knowing that none of the males ever got into a fight made her think otherwise. She climbed into the back of her cave to where the stream was. It trickled down and made a wonderful noise that Shelly always fell asleep to. She climbed up a small hill to where she kept her herbs. These woud be her meal today. Shelly wasn't a vegetarian but liked to eat meat as little as she could. She ate the right herbs that would keep her going for part of the day, the rest she would go hunting. (to b continued)
